April 18th, 2020 - Jennifer Brown - Even though our schools have been closed, the APA Bright Beginnings Staff Childcare program has still been providing an amazing service to our APA teachers and staff. There are over 100 staff children enrolled in our childcare programs that have had their little worlds changed by this pandemic. We wanted to provide a common structure for them during this time. Just like your students have google classrooms to attend every day, the childcare program has also set up a "Learn at Home" experience for staff children that are enrolled in the childcare program at no additional cost. Each childcare provider has an assigned topic/section of the daily lesson plan and presents it in a video lesson for the child to view. There are also google meet hangouts and Zoom meetings scheduled for children to log into to interact with their teachers and friends. We know that this is not the same as providing daily physical care for the children of our amazing APA staff, but we really wanted to help support them in any way we could. This has been our goal since the school closure began. We desperately miss our little students, just like every teacher misses seeing their classroom full of their bright smiling students. We can't wait to see them again next year when school resumes like normal. But until then, we will continue to provide a fun and engaging "learn at home" experience for the children of our outstanding APA teachers and staff!
