Celebrating Service and Virtuous Character: American Prep Builder of the Year Awards

At American Preparatory Academy, we are dedicated to fostering a community that values service, virtuous character, and academic excellence.  These values are essential in creating a positive and supportive environment where students can thrive, and the Builder Awards recognize outstanding individuals who embody these values.

Virtuous character plays a critical role in shaping and influencing our school culture.  When students possess kindness, empathy, honesty, Salem BotY-72-Editrespect, and integrity, they set the tone for positive interactions and relationships with their peers.  As these traits are modeled and encouraged within the school community and at home, they become the norm, shaping the overall culture.

In a world where virtuous character is valued and promoted, individuals are more likely to treat others with kindness and respect.  They are more likely to act in a way that is fair and just, and to hold themselves and others accountable for their actions.  This, in turn, leads to a positive and supportive environment where individuals feel safe, valued, and respected.

At American Preparatory Academy, we believe that the traits associated with kindness, courtesy, and attentiveness to others are more critical than ever, and we believe it is imperative to teach our students how to embody these traits through practical Character Development activities, experiential field trips, and literature that showcases human triumph through moral concepts.

The Builder Awards recognize the achievements of individuals who have contributed to our school and community in countless ways.    From students who demonstrate exceptional kindness to staff members who go above and beyond to support their classes, the Builder Awards highlight the contributions of those who embody the "Builder" spirit, and we are proud to make a BIG deal of their5-Mar-31-2023-03-36-01-9695-PM accomplishments.

Each year, American Prep recognizes a select few individuals with the most prestigious award within the APA community, the Builder of the Year Award.  This award represents an achievement that cannot be summed up in one instance but through many moments and interactions in students' lives, in the thousands of interactions between a teacher and their class, or in the multitude of volunteer hours that a community member spends giving to our schools, students, or a project.  We hope that by honoring outstanding acts of service, others will follow in their footsteps and positively impact our community.

We are grateful for our incredible American Prep students and staff and inspired by our 2023 Builders of the Year!  Thank you for your exceptional service and dedication to our school.  Together, we can continue to build a culture that values service, virtuous character, and academic excellence.
