As you know Utah is experiencing a surge in positive tests, with the average daily increase in positive tests at the 1500 mark (past 7 days). We encourage our families follow the mask guidelines, increased hand sanitizing and limit your exposure to people outside your family members.
The good news is that the death per cases number in Utah has dropped since school opened. In August, the rate was .78% deaths per # of cases, and now the rate has fallen to .54% deaths per # of cases. This is a great sign that our treatments are improving, or the virus itself is weakening, or some combination of these factors and others. But in any case, Utah is the SAFEST state in the contiguous United States to live in with regard to staying alive if you get COVID. Only Alaska has a lower death rate. Aren’t we so fortunate to live in such a great place!!
Have a fun, safe Halloween weekend with your families!
NEW: Hands for Hope
Join us for our FIRST EVER hope challenge! November 2-6th we are partnering with “Hands for
Hope” by “Flag for Hope” to join thousands of other Hope Warriors to flood America with kindness. On WEDNESDAY the 4th your student will bring home a pamphlet and a “hope coin” with instructions on how to use it. The hope coin represents an act of kindness. As the coin moves from person to person a ripple effect is created that will have a long-lasting, positive impact on our home, school, community and country.
Please watch this video: https://youtu.be/fxs5W4SbYd4
Finally, beginning the week of November 9th, we will have a “Hope Banner” where your student can put his/her handprint and name to show completion of the challenge. Watch for parent volunteer opportunities next week to help with this fun part of the project!https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0D4CAAA62DAAFF2-hands
Let’s spread kindness one small act at a time! Are you ready for the challenge?
2020 Veteran’s Day Celebration
American Prep was founded on the belief that America’s schools bear the responsibility to teach our children about the liberties that they enjoy and the sacrifices made to ensure those liberties. We know that our freedom is not free, but has been earned by the men and women who have served our country, and committed their lives to preserving our freedom. Our American Prep community is truly thankful for our service men and women and their sacrifice. 2020 mark our 12th Annual Veterans Day Celebration. Each year thousands of students, parents, and staff join together to honor our veterans. We thank everyone for making these events a success and we are humbled to honor those who serve and protect our country.
Please help us by inviting veterans and their families to join us on LIVE.KSL.COM on November 11th and view our D1 tribute to them. Congratulations to Elizabeth Keske (5th grade) and Koby Burton (5th grade) who will be sharing their winning essays with us on this day as well. Please see the attached flyer and pick up extras in the main office is needed.
